Temporary Lip Tattoos: I Took That Dare! (VIDEO)

Beauty & Style 29

Temporary Lip TattoosHave you heard of temporary lip tattoos?

They're the latest crazy new trend to hit beauty stores and boutiques. Much like the tattoos your kids love so much, you cut the lips to fit your own, dab them on with a little water, and peel off the backing paper.

Voila! Your lips are leopard print! Or polka-dotted! Or star-spangled!

But what happens when you take this radical new look out on the street? I took this dare, and the reactions to my leopard print lips were HILARIOUS.

Click through to see the video, then tell me what you think of this look in the comments!

I wore my lip tattoos in a business district at lunch time, and I have to say people weren't exactly clamoring to get the look for themselves -- probably because the tattoos looked less like leopard print on my lips and more like disgusting black scabs on a sickly yellow background.

Another drawback to these tattoos is that they make your lips feel incredibly dry (a little bit of chapstick with these tats is definitely in order) and they crack if you smile too wide.

They were, however, easy to apply, despite the daunting instruction leaflet that came with my lip tattoos. And if you're looking for a perfect addition to a Halloween costume, well, these might be just what you're looking for.

Otherwise, I wouldn't really advise buying these ...

cafemom studios, costumes, general hilarity, i'll take that dare

The color also washed you out. I think maybe the response would have been more positive if the lip tattoo had a pink or red background. But still freaky lookin'. :-)

GOod grief, the above commenter "D" could use some manners. If your posts bother him/her so much then stop reading.
As for the lip tattoos. I'll pass, but they do seem more Halloween-y than, anything.

Agreed! D's comments were unnecessary! I may not agree with everything she writes...but you are right about one thing, D. She's not cute. She's gorgeous! Even with leopard print lips. And let's be honest. That's a tough one for anybody to pull off!

My teenage daughter loves the tattoo lips and eye shadows. I let her talk me into allowing her to put them on me one day. I looked like a freak show (zebra print eye tattoos and plaid lips), but boy did we have fun playing in that stuff!

D's an idiot!  Lindsay Ferrier-I think I love you!

F off D, you suck! Lindsey you freaking rock. I've had pink glitter tattoo lips in my cart on sephora for about a week and I finally went ahead and ordered them!

What did "d" say? How bad could it have been?

I'm wondering the same thing, Stefanie!  I never even saw the comment, but thank you so much for defending me, ladies.  Those kinds of comments come with the territory, unfortunately- I just ignore them. :)
