Dare Yourself to Wear Bright Colored Denim

by Michele Zipp on February 22, 2012 at 12:06 PM

color denim expressI never thought I could wear colored denim. I love the look on other women but I kind of felt like I would look like a giant misshapen fruit roll-up in them. Make that a very unattractive and giant misshapen fruit roll-up especially if I wore a top that was the same color as my pants. These Express models (at left) however look amazing in their one-color outfits.

I'm happy to say that I'm doing it! I'm daring to wear colored jeans, and I would do so with a solid color top (perhaps a simple black, white, or grey) or even a muted print. I'm not longer afraid and I will look delicious in NOT a fruit roll-up kind of way.

Check out the great selections I found (at really good prices).

These Colored Ultra Skinny Jean from Aeropostale are on sale for $24.75. This banana yellow is a nice alternative to white jeans (which are often hard to wear for some). If you don't like mellow yellow, they also come in turquoise, red, and blue.

Colored Stretch Denim in Plus Sizes from Avenue are on sale for $29.96 in this bold blue and also hot red.

Oh purple. How I love thee! These Zelda Jean Legging from Express (also seen on the models in the main image) are buy one get one 50 percent off, with a single pair for $79.90. Pretty sweet deal. They call this color fuchsia, but it's also in red, green, bright pink, coral, and blue, too.

One of the most exciting designer meets big box store collaborations going on is Rock & Republic's mash-up with Kohl's and the line they produced did not disappoint! Kohl's sent me some samples and their Hamburg Skinny Crop Jeans on sale for $54.99 are super soft and so well-made. And the color? I'm going to call it must-have red. With your Kohl's cash and their constant sales, you can probably score these for less.

Celebrity Pink's Colored Skinny Jeans from Dillard's is just $29.99. This bold blue isn't as daring as some of the other colors, but a baby step into colored denim wearing wonderfulness!

Would you wear colored denim? What color is your favorite?

funny you wrote about this, I just bought a pair of red, a really pretty shade, and I also have a pair of royal blue.  Love them both, they are fun and something different.  I couldn't resist , have been seeing them in all the magazines.  Mine were pretty reasonable in price, glad you go them they are cute.

I don't care for them but they might look cute on my dd. She would love red or pink.

I think they are cute and might buy a pair. I don't really see much a difference then wearing a colored pair of slacks.
