12 Heart Tattoos That Are Perfect for Valentine’s Day

And yes, it could turn out to be a terrible idea if you break up. But you could always cover it up somehow. Still, for those not willing to add the letters, I will offer an alternative. And that's a heart. A simple or ornate heart. It's the perfect idea for a Valentine's Day gift for your sweetie who loves ink.

Oh the heart tattoo ... how I love thee. So sweet, symbolizing a love so pure (yes, I'm being all sugary silly) and it can be placed just about anywhere, even amidst other tattoos. Just like this woman's half-sleeve. There's a cupcake (talk about sugar)! A rainbow! And tiny hearts and stars.

I'm getting a heart tattoo Michele! It is going to be 2 old school swallows holding a heart shaped padlock with 2 key holes...one for each of my kids. Blake has a swallow holding a key to my "heart," and Angel is getting one soon as well! I am going to design it. Will definitely post pics for you when I get it! It will be my first! Better late than never, right? giving heart happy valentine

Michele, you should also do a post on heart shaped birthmarks! There's a good number to look at on Flickr if you just search for "heart birthmark." (Web image searches also come up with a fair number. And there are cats, dogs, a pig, horses, and a cow that have heart shaped spots on them. I personally have a folder with 165 images of heart shaped birthmarks and spots from Flickr and Google Images but I can't easily share them all here. http://www.catsparella.com/2011/01/21-cats-with-fur-hearts.html is one site that has 21 cats with fur heart shaped spots.)

I have a heart with my husband & sons name inside it. The heart is a thorny vine & has a red ribbon wrapping around it & going through it. My tattoo is in honor of Jesus & the love he had for all of us. He wore a crown of thorns & shed his blood for us. That love is pure & beautiful. Because Jesus did this for all of us I am blessed with my true loves. :)

I have a heart made of roses on a thorny vine. Inside are two doves holding a length of blue ribbon with two wedding bands tied into it. It (obviously) represents and honors our marriage. The thorns represent those times when it's not always easy, but the fact that the entire tatt is in the shape of a heart signifies that love is ever present -- the only constant. Ick, such a sappy description, but it IS Valentine's Day. :)

I have a red heart w/a bandage across it tattooed near my collar bone. Everyone always thinks it's to symbolize some heartbreak I've suffered. But, I actually got it after my daughter had heart surgery when she was six days old. She's two now & absolutly perfect. Although it was horrifying at the time, it really brought my family closer together than ever. My tattoo repersents hope & OUR healing...
