Is it just me, or did 2012 officially bring winter along with it? Former Real Housewife Bethenny Frankel was dressed for the harsh temperatures yesterday during her afternoon stroll around New York City with her husband Jason Hoppy, daughter Bryn, and their dog Cookie. While the Skinnygirl's outfit is nothing special (eeeesh, leggings as pants!), I can't help but comment on one thing in particular: Her black Ugg Australia boots.
Let's be real: Uggs are horrendous. Aside from being comfortable, the boots don't look like anything special.
But you know what? I can't even hate on her for wearing them. I also have ridiculous things in my closet I love way too much to part with, including a pair of Uggs, AND I wear them out in public. Don't you?
We've all been there. For me, my never gonna throw it away item is my black puffy vest from Gap circa 2006 (or so). I know it's not uber flattering, but I just can't get over how warm and fuzzy it is. And you know what? I think that's OK.
I say If something is comfortable and functional, keep it. There's always going to be a time and a place to pull out your classic favorites. As busy women, there's no way that we can all be fashionistas 24/7.
Of course, don't take my ode to comfy as me saying that those old ripped leggings you pretend aren't a nuisance are a keeper. Just like the seams, it's time to part ways. Rips, tears, snags, or holes mean the item has outworn its welcome. Take the new year as a chance to start fresh, conquer that damn closet, and sort through what you have. Keep the clothes that make you feel good, no matter what the label says, and toss the ones that drag you down.
What's one item in your closet you just can't let go of?

I like her outfit.
I think people are just trying to get away with wearing slippers outside. They look terrible, and the expensive ones are made out of sheep. Ugg-ly! :)
Her whole outfit looks like it should be on a little girl.
And you're "rediculous" comment makes you look ridiculous.
I've been curious about the Uggs trend forever, so I finally decided to get fake ones that look like Uggs and cost thirty bucks. Wore them a couple of times and got the curiosity out of my system. I'm glad I didn't spend all the extra $$ for the real things. That said, I have a tailor-made dress suit from 1996 in my closet that I just cannot give up. The dress is a little tight, but the jacket fits perfectly - so I purchased a similar dress recently and now wear the new dress with the jacket. I can't bring myself to get rid of the original dress, it was my first "big girl" outfit!
Why are we STILL talking about Bethenny Frankel?
