Tights. I love them. But there was something schoolyard about wearing any color except black or grey. I thought they were just for kids (or celebrities who look good in everything). Not anymore. I've bravely branched out and I have to say that bold and patterned tights are an inexpensive way to add a bit of fun into your wardrobe.

Here's how to wear them!

These outfits show different tights worn with dresses, but you can certainly wear with skirts and also knee-high boots.

How To Wear Bold & Patterned Tights

Keep your clothes simple and one-color. A black shift dress looks cute with a bright pair of tights. Try Alloy's Opague Tights (2 for $7.50, far left in yellow, but they offer 8 colors).

Be a little daring with a printed tight that is set on basic black.  Try Black Peacock Feather Tights ($29.99 from Mod Cloth, second from left).

Tone down a busy pattern with a knee-length skirt and knee-high boots. It will only give a glimpse of tights, but it will still give your look a cool jolt of fun. Try Psychedelic Persian Tights ($25.99 from Mod Cloth, second from right).

Go with low-key colors. Neutrals, maroon, muted greens, or black and grey patterns look super chic. Try Hue Argyle Sweater Tights ($18 from Nordstrom, far right).

Try layering. Have an old pair of fishnets? Put them on over a pair of grey tights for a whole new look.
