Madonna Should Act Her Age With New Clothing Line

madonnaGiven how trendy it is for celebs to be branded to the nines, it was only a matter of time before Madonna slapped her name on a fashion line ... for grown-ups. Yeah, she already has that juniors' line with daughter Lourdes, Material Girl, but that whole enterprise has done nothing for her core fans ... those who grew up on Madge. But that's why this new line geared for women, called Truth Or Dare by Madonna, is "Like a Prayer" that's been answered!

Right?

Well, okay, let's not start whipping out our credit cards quite yet. There's one thing about how the line's being described so far that is a little strange.

Apparently, the "lifestyle brand" is meant to appeal to women 27-50 years old. Props to Madge for including women around her age (she's 53), but I'm not sure that I can visualize a line that would be appropriate on women my age, as well as my mother's age. Sure, there are lots of items that can be worn by both Millennials and Boomers, but between the two, there is a notable age gap, and there are noticeable differences in our tastes when it comes to color, prints, design, etc.

As much as I want to be able to walk into Nordstrom and pick up a Madonna-designed dress that fits flawlessly into my wardrobe, I'm thinking she probably would have done well to focus the line even more on her own age group. Because, unfortunately, there's not that much in the way of "trendy," moderately priced clothes for women who are, say, 45+.

Sure, every now and then, you've got a designer Target line, but those even tend to err more toward juniors' territory. No woman wants to wear clothes that they worry make them look like they're trying too hard to "dress young," and on the other hand, being in your 50s shouldn't mean being relegated to sections of the department store frequented by seniors! It's a conundrum. But that challenge could present a brilliant opportunity for Madonna, a gap to fill (ahem, besides the one between her front teeth). She'd be wise to jump on that.

Are you intrigued by Madonna's new fashion line?
