Happy Halloween, dear ghoulish readers! What are your plans tonight? Anything fun? Wild party? Trick-or-treating with the kiddies? Scary movie marathon? Personally, I plan on bundling up, parking myself on my stoop with a medium-sized bowl of mini Snickers and Jolly Ranchers, and passing out candy to adorable strangers.
Am I going to dress up? Eh, not really. Don't get me wrong, I love Halloween, but without a party on tap or a kid of my own, there was really no need for a costume this year. But I still plan on being festive. Which basically means cat ears, cat eyes, and more lip gloss than usual. I'm non-dressing up dressing up. And here are five ways you can, too.
No need for a full-on costume this year, but come on, nobody wants to be a killjoy.
Spice up your makeup. If you don't normally rock a cat or smoky eye, now's your day. If you feel completely clueless when it comes to eyeliner, there are a million and one tutorials online on how to achieve this -- including this one right here. And if you don't get it perfect, who cares? It's Halloween!
Get a wild manicure. Since you're not dressing up, how about a really kooky nail color -- or better yet, a Halloween manicure? Try something like black on every nail and orange on your ring fingers; or all white nails with some cute nail stickers. Hey, it's better than nothing.
Try a colored hair extension. You know how we feel about colored hair extensions here at The Stir. Why not throw one in tonight?
Halloween jewelry. We all had the teacher in elementary school who wore skeleton earrings or a pumpkin pin on Halloween, and thinking back, it was kind of cute. If you haven't gotten anything to wear, a quick trip to Claire's Boutique should fix that right up.
Witch stockings. No makeup to wash off, no nail polish to take off, just a pair of good old-fashioned witch stockings. They're perfect.
So, no need to be a total party pooper this year -- and no need to spend a million dollars on a costume. Just a few tweaks here and there, and you're looking totally spooktacular for Halloween.
Here's a picture of some of us "non-dresser uppers" here at The Stir. Happy Halloween!

Do you know of any other "non-dress up" ways to dress up?
