Kelly Bensimon Launches New Shoe Line That’s Sure to Fall Flat

kelly bensimonAfter being fired from The Real Housewives of New York, Kelly Bensimon apparently had to find a new source of income and has decided to start designing footwear. Yay. Shoes made by Kelly. Wow. This is so great. I can hardly contain my excitement. Woo freaking hoo.

I'm sorry, but the last thing I'd want to do is walk a mile in Kelly's shoes, figuratively or literally. She's already been sued once for ripping off a jewelry designer (remember those owl pendants she kept pushing?), so I'm assuming Kelly's line of footwear has more to do with putting food on the table and less to do with making fashion "democratic," as she told E! News.

Like, what does this even mean?

I want to make it super chic but incredibly affordable because I feel like why can't fashion be democratic?

She's selling her shoes, which seem to be a collection of generic, colored ballet flats, for $39.99 a pair. Hmm. Almost 40 bucks for flats designed by one of the most unstable people I've ever had the displeasure of seeing on TV? No thanks.

And let's not over-hype them here and say they're "incredibly affordable." Ten dollars would be incredibly affordable. Even 20 maybe. But 40? That sounds average. Let's be real: There's nothing "democratic" about her price. Sarah Jessica Parker's low-end clothing line Bitten is democratic and incredibly affordable. Kelly's is just averagely-priced, average-looking.

And Kelly's not stopping with shoes. After their launch in the spring, she says she's going to debut a whole Kelly by Kelly Killoren Bensimon line of products. Joy.

It seems like every D-List reality star and their mother are launching their own clothing line, so it's really no surprise that Kelly's decided to take this route, too. And like most of said celeb lines, this is nothing special nor will it be successful. There is one thing about her line that's special -- $3 of every purchase will be donated to breast cancer research. Can't fault her for that.

Would you wear Kelly's shoes?
