When I heard that this amazing 18-karat gold sculpture of supermodel Kate Moss was going up for auction, I knew I had to have it.
Can you even imagine the respect I'd get from friends and frenemies alike if I had this elegant work of art in my foyer?
*Sigh*
I was, therefore, elated to learn that Sotheby's was auctioning the piece off to the highest bidder!
YOU WILL BE MINE, GOLDEN CONTORTIONIST KATE MOSS, I thought to myself. OH YES. YOU WILL BE MINE.
And then someone went and outbid me.
You won't believe by how much ...
$900,000.
That's how much a bidder paid for this sculpture.
$900,000.
Well, $908,245 if you want to get particular.
This special sculpture was created by artist Marc Quinn, who makes a living out of sculpting life-size renditions of people in the news, like pregnant man Thomas Beatie and Michael Jackson.
As bereft as I feel about missing out on the gold version of Kate, I still have hope that I can get an outdoor Kate for my lawn.

She would be a welcome addition to my ancient family manor, don't you think?
What do you think of this sculpture? Would you pay $900,000 for it?
