Gwyneth Paltrow Bewilders in Black Lace: Will You Wear This Hot Trend?

Gwyneth PaltrowGwyneth Paltrow is just one of many celebs turning up in black lace looks lately.

And as she's proving in this photo, there's a right way to wear the look -- and a wrong one.

In my opinion, Gwyneth falls in the latter category.

Black lace gives you that peekaboo look all by itself -- no extra exposed skin required! Midriff-baring, for example?

And that is why Gwyneth would have looked great if this Pucci gown had been a one-piece instead of two. But hey. At least she can mix-n-match the pieces now. It's about versatility, people!

Now that you've seen the WRONG way to wear black lace, I'll show you the RIGHT way ... after the jump!

LaceItalian design house Blumarine managed to create a black lace dress for fall that's both sexy and demure. The dress's high neck and mid-length hem make up for the fact that she looks like SHE'S PRACTICALLY NAKED UNDER THAT THING, OMG.

BlumarineEven better, let your black lace peep out from beneath a dress coat!

BebeFor those of us on budgets that unfortunately do not include Blumarine or Pucci, I'm liking this Blouson Sheer Lace Top (Bebe, $59). I'd wear a camisole underneath, and I love the idea of wearing it underneath a black blazer or alone (WITH A CAMI, PLEASE) on a night out.

NordstromThis Karen Kane Scalloped Lace Dress (Nordstrom, $98) manages to be sexy without getting slutty. It would look great alone or under a black wrap.

TopshopOne of my favorite black lace options is the skirt. This full skirt (Topshop, $76) comes at a fraction of the cost of other designer full black lace skirts I've seen out there right now.

TalbotsAnd this lace pencil skirt (Talbots, $88.99 on sale) would allow you to get away with this slightly-racy look even at work.

One of my favorite things about black lace is that you really don't have to spend a whole lot of money on the look if you keep an eye out for deals. I have two black lace skirts that I got from Forever 21 last season. One was on sale for $11 and they look every bit as cute as black lace skirts from designers that are averaging at around $400! Just make sure you're not showing too much skin when you wear it and you'll be good!

Are you wearing black lace this fall?
