3 Biggest Makeup Application Challenges -- Solved!

eyeshadowMy favorite part about fall is that I can start wearing makeup again. In the summer any makeup attempts for me are futile -- I sweat more than a Lohan in church -- and whatever I've applied in my air conditioned apartment is a black, beige, and red mess once I reach my destination. That's why fall and I get along. The sweating is over and the air is crisp -- it's the perfect time for a little mascara, foundation, blush, and lipstick.

But since I've had a few months now of going au naturel, I think I need to refresh myself, and yoself, on how to apply makeup like a pro. With these three tips, we'll be looking great all fall.

  1. Eyeshadow on your cheek by the time the main course arrives? Use primer. Dab primer on your eyelids before applying eyeshadow so that it stays put. If you don't have any primer, you can sub with a bit of foundation. But if you do so, make sure you set it with loose powder before putting on the eyeshadow. Priming will keep eyeshadow in place all night.
  2. Lipstick non-existent after you've been wearing it for half an hour? Use foundation. Mmmhmm! Rub a tiny bit into your lips, powder ever so lightly, then apply your lipstick. Just like primer keeps eyeshadow in place, this will work wonders in keeping your lipstick looking fresh all night.
  3. Looking a bit orange? A bit pale? Consider getting a new foundation. Foundation should match your skin tone, not change it. You'll start looking like Snooki or Queen Elizabeth if you go too far in the wrong direction.
