Demi Moore for Ann Taylor Ads Are Disturbing

Demi MooreIn theory, Demi Moore is the perfect celebrity model for Ann Taylor.

The 48-year-old actress manages to be glamorous, timeless, and relentlessly classic -- much like the image Ann Taylor wants to portray.

But when I saw the Demi Moore's ads in the fall fashion magazines, I was, frankly, very disturbed.

Click through to see them and find out why.

Check out these two ads from the fall 2011 Ann Taylor campaign:

Pretty, yes -- and if this model were an unknown, I wouldn't think twice about the ads.

But I happen to know that these photos are of Demi Moore.

And these photos, particularly the first one, DO NOT REALLY LOOK LIKE DEMI MOORE.

Instead, they look like an approximation of Demi Moore. A wax dummy of Demi Moore.

These photos have clearly been airbrushed like there's no tomorrow.

And the thing is, I've seen lots of un-airbrushed photos of Demi Moore. This woman is in great shape. She seems to have had some serious plastic surgery. She needs no airbrushing.

Which leaves me to wonder why Ann Taylor felt the need to airbrush the hell out of her -- to the point where she's nearly unrecognizable. And if they felt the need to airbrush a 48-year-old woman that much, why hire her in the first place? And more importantly, who the hell are they marketing to, anyway? Because as far as I can tell, 48-year-old women (and women who want to look as good as the unairbrushed Demi when they're 48) are the people who are buying Ann Taylor clothing!

WTH, Ann Taylor?!

I'm not the only one who feels this way. According to gossip columnist Perez Hilton, Ann Taylor's Facebook page was flooded with complaints about excessive airbrushing after it unveiled the Demi Moore ads. And other bloggers have complained about the airbrushing as well.

So now I'd like to know what you think about all this. Cause for concern? Or tempest in a teapot?
