If you're like me, you love seeing the new trends that crop up each fall, but you hate realizing that most of them are completely incompatible with your lifestyle.
I mean, good for you if you're 5'10", 110 pounds, and making the nightclub/cocktail party round five nights a week, but most of us just plain aren't.
I've been checking out lookbooks, catalogs, and magazines and finding some fall looks that many moms could pull off.
One look I like is this cowl neck top paired with skinny jeans and riding boots, from the latest Nordstrom catalog.
I might not choose this particular top, but cowl necks, ponchos, and dolman tops are BIG this upcoming season, and if you wear them with last season's skinny jeans and boots, you're STILL IN.
Nice, right?

I love this shot from the Saks Fifth Avenue catalog because it shows how you can put a statement piece (in this case, a cute cape) over an ordinary top and jeans and look stunning. Saks also prominently featured bright leather gloves with many of its fall looks. Could this be another hot trend?
Meanwhile, Express has come out this fall with a number of lightweight dress coats that give an ordinary skirt and blouse a hot new look -- and cover up figure flaws. This is a great option for the workplace.

I'm also liking this look from Express -- I know plenty of you have a black pencil skirt and a leather jacket in your closet. Put them together this season with a pair of peep-toe booties for an on-trend look that's good for the office or a cocktail party.
Here's another way of wearing the dress coat. I particularly like this tweedy one. Keep it dressed down with a bare leg and black boots. These dress coats would look great over black pants, too!
We've all got a classic sheath dress or two in our closet. This season, pair yours with opaque black tights and black ankle booties and you'll be at the forefront of fashion.
Which of these looks do you like?

none. no heels except for church, no tight skirts, too damn cold here to spend a lot on thin coats.
DGmomma, the first two looks are for you. The first one in particular is a great idea- You can update a lot of last season's wardrobe with a cowl neck/dolman sleeved top or two. And you can update everything with a simple cape-cut coat.
As for the rest, many moms work outside the home, go on date nights, attend parties, etc, and they need current looks too. :)
Love these!
I like all!
