What's Your Stain Removal Secret?

Stain SolutionI'm a little bit obsessed with The Laundress right now, a website with tips and products that remove virtually any clothing (and home) stains known to man.

Part of the reason is that I'm in the process of trying to remove stains from five or six of my kids' shirts and dresses.

They are some of my favorite pieces, and I'm just not willing to throw them out without trying every stain solution I can find.

So far, though, a few of the stains are proving to be very stubborn.

I really want to order Stain Solution from The Laundress, but in the meantime, I'm going to try a recipe one of my friends swears by.

I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours ...

... after the jump!

First off, most stains I encounter need only a few spritzes of Spray N Wash and an overnight soaking in a bucket of hot water that includes detergent and OxiClean.

And I don't even use the real OxiClean (it's too expensive). I use the Kroger knockoff version, which is about a third of the price.

One of my daughter's shirts, though, has a stain that just won't come out. So I will next try my friend's "secret recipe":

She has told me to spray the stained area liberally with Spray N Wash and then sprinkle OxiClean over it. She said to rub the OxiClean into the Spray N Wash and make a paste of it over the stain, then to roll up the garment tightly and leave it that way overnight. The next day, she told me to launder it as usual and the stain would be gone!

I'll try it tonight and let you know how it turns out.

In the meantime, tell me how you get rid of tough to remove stains. I need all the help I can get!
