'Project Runway' Recap: Nina Garcia Drives the Designers Nuts!

anya project runway season 9 episode 4On tonight's Project Runway, Nina Garcia was the star of the show ... so to speak. The designers were tasked with another first in the history of the show -- creating a day-to-night outfit the Marie Claire fashion director-turned-judge could wear to work, as well as to an evening event. Whoa! Plus, sweetening the pot this week: The winner's design would be featured in a Marie Claire editorial.

Cool challenge, awesome reward, but that didn't prevent the crazy behavior from coming out of the woodwork in a huge way this week. And I'm not just talking about Michael Kors calling Danielle's nasty '80s green chiffon top something that could only be worn to Joan Crawford's St. Patty's Day party. HA!

For instance, the designers were to work on their own. However, when it got down to the wire, we saw Anya get some serious hands-on help from Lauren and Joshua. Viktor looked on and later commented during his confessional that he wondered if that should be considered cheating. I have to wonder, too, you know? And then, when Anya ended up in the top three, and Heidi said to her, "I can't believe you learned how to sew in four months," Anya replied, "I'm a fast learner, I don't know what else to say." Oooof. At that point, she totally could have admitted she had help. Seems like she's in for the Tim Gunn-trademark "cheater, cheater" one-on-one confrontation down the road.

Then, Cecilia, whose dress looked like a potato sack, continued to come off as a total sourpuss brat. Clearly she doesn't give a flying bleepity-bleep about being there. She and Julie ended up in the bottom two, and after Julie got the boot for her nasty dress coat -- or "droat" as guest judge Joanna Coles called it -- she admitted to the other designers that she knew Julie wanted to be there more than she did. But her attitude seemed to be, "Oh well, I guess I'll stay anyway!" She could have spoken up to the judges and taken the fall. Shame on her.

The silver gold lining in the whole mess: I adored Kimberly's "transformative" deep gold top and black dress pants. Thankfully, she won, and I loved seeing Nina rock the outfit in the MC offices.

As for the other two, I have a feeling they'll get what's comin' to 'em sooner or later ... but likely a lot sooner than we think.

Were you annoyed with Anya and Cecilia's behavior? Do you think they'll have to pay for what they did (or didn't do) this week?
