The Only Teasing Tool You'll Ever Need Is Under Five Dollars

Mad Men
It's safe to say that Mad Men has had a profound impact on clothing, makeup, and hairstyles over the last few years, and one of the biggest Mad Men-inspired trends has been the return of teased updos.

Celebs are often spotted now with Joan Harris-like bouffants, fabulously teased 'dos that look like they'd be impossible to achieve without a team of stylists. As it turns out though, that's not necessarily the case.

The secret to smoothly teased hair can be found in one tool that costs under five dollars!

Click through to find out what it is, and how to use it.

I will say that I have seen this tool before, many times, but never realized how useful it really was.

At Salon Nfuse here in Nashville, it is the weapon of choice for stylists.

It's the good old-fashioned teasing brush! This particular model is the Phillips 3 RowTeasing Brush, $4.99 at Sally Beauty Supply.

Teasing Hair

Salon Nfuse stylist Ellen says the secret is to take sections of hair like this and slowly brush down the length of the hair with the brush, from ends to crown. You only need to do this once or twice.

And poof! VOLUME!

Next, use the brush to smooth down the top, and just like that, you have height that Betty Draper would envy.

I'll show you what we did with this hairstyle tomorrow. In the meantime, I was so pleased with the results of the teasing brush that I thought it deserved a post of its own!

Do you have a teasing brush? Do you want one now?
