Designers Are Insane to Get on Kate Middleton's Bad Side

Kate middletonA few days ago, I wrote about how Vivienne Westwood is on my s**t list for bashing Kate Middleton's style. Today, I curtsy my H&M skirt to Betsey Johnson, who thinks Duchess Catherine is simply tops.

At the launch of her perfume, Too Too, the designer sat down with Hollywood Life and gushed over the future Queen of England. Here's what she had to say about Kate and Prince William:

I love her, and I love the two of them together. I think they’re going to do big things and really try to take care of a lot of people around the world. She’s so beautiful and I think she’s handling the whole kit & kaboodle so well.

That, my friends, is exactly what one should say about the Duchess of Cambridge. Know why? Because now, I smell a Kate Middleton/Betsey Johnson collab ...

It blows my mind why anyone -- particularly a maker of clothing -- would say anything negative about Kate. Not only is she a lovely woman, she single-handedly possesses the power to take a designer's career from great to out-of-this-world amazing. One Sarah Burton comes to mind.

Of course, Betsey Johnson and Vivienne Westwood are both wildly successful designers already; but having the new "It" girl, who clearly isn't going anywhere for a long, long time, wear their clothes would breathe new life into their brands, perhaps broadening them to a wider audience.

Just between you and me, I don't particularly think of kooky Betsey Johnson when I think of classy Kate Middleton. Kate seems more like a Burberry girl, maybe a Lanvin. And Betsey seems better suited to dress the likes of more carefree celebrities, like Sarah Jessica Parker or Cameron Diaz. But after Betsey's kind words, who knows what could happen?

Would you like to see Kate Middleton in Betsey Johnson?
