I wrote a while back about Simply Be, a plus-size clothing site with clothes that are way better than average. But I hadn't looked at it in a while, at least until a reader wrote in with a photo of a dress she'd purchased from the site.
Simply Be is worth writing about again, because the clothes are just wonderful. They're cut to flatter fuller figures and if you wear plus-size clothing, you should know about this site.
Check out this maxi dress (Simply Be, $89), for example. It's gorgeous -- and if you don't want to put your arms on display, top off the look with a cardi or shrug.

I love this 2-in-1 layered camisole (Simply Be, $68), which is figure-flattering and on-trend.
This Tye Dye Print Dress (Simply Be, $81) is perfect for a summer outing.
This Print Jersey Dress (Simply Be, $65) has a totally Boden feel, at a far better price!
You know I'm a fan of the beach dress. This one (SImply Be, $42) is cute and a great price.
And I also like this boho-style dress (Simply Be, $42).

shouldn't the models be plus size?
Sadly, I bet they are considered plus size.
I looked at the site and they have sizes 10 and up. Since when is a 10 a plus size?
*sigh* I knew someone would immediately feel the need to say "Since when is 10 plus size?" The site specializes in plus sizes. Nearly every retailer carries size ten, so I don't feel the need to bother mentioning that "SIZE TENS CAN BUY STUFF HERE, TOO!"
As for the models, some of them are larger than others. I don't really care about them- I just like the clothes. Spiegel has skinny models wear the plus-size clothing, too, and they STILL look awful in it! ;D
Although I don't think a size 10 should be labeled plus-size when the average American woman is a size 14/16, I'm glad they carry sizes 10 and 12. I was initially sighing when I read the article because so often I like the "plus-size" clothes better than the regular sizes but usually their smallest size is still too big. Thanks for introducing me to this company (although if my clothing budget could speak, it would have unkind things to say about you.)
I do not see any plus size models in those pictures. First of all, let me say that I am older (50) and wear a 14-16. I am amply endowed. I would not wear any of those dresses. They are all sleeveless which is a big red flag. They are all made for women with less boobs than I. My thin 25 year old daughter would look good in these clothes. But, alas, she is not plus size.
I'm glad that their sizes go down that far. Misses sizes tend to assume small boobs and narrower hips but the average plus size range is simply too big. We need more clothing for women with average waists and plus size boobs because there are a lot of us out there. I wear a 10-12 in pants and a L-XL in tops so buying a dress is nigh on impossible.
Thanks! I will have to check out the site and watch for sales.
That site is fantastic! I'm addicted to the Joe Brown's line. They have tons of sales all the time, just had a 40% off code that ended yesterday. I can't wait for the fall line. The dress I ordered (that Lindsay mentioned) fits so wonderfully. It's so flattering and different, which is what I think is lacking from plus-size fashion - originality. I definitely recommend checking out this website.
Love!
