Rock the Nautical Style Like Olivia Wilde, Not Gilligan

Nicole Fabian-Weber

oliva wildeIf two things are hot right now, they're Olivia Wilde and nautical stripes! And brace yourself because the two converge on the June cover of Glamour, where the House actress, hot off a royal divorce of her own, sports the ubiquitous trend. Ow, mine eyes! Too much heat!

No, in all seriousness, it really doesn't take much to make Olivia look good. She's blessed with those annoying little genes that have the ability to make a paper bag look sexy. But for the rest of us, we need to pay attention before we rock the nautical look on our yachts this summer. If we're not careful enough, we could wind up looking this this!

Let's start with the above look. So cute, right? And easy! It's the perfect way to look stylish and be comfortable (no string bikinis here!). Take a red one-piece -- or two-piece with wide-bottom/almost boy-cut shorts -- and pair it with a Breton striped tee. Adorbs.

Vintage Cotton Stripe V-neck tee (J.Crew, $34.50)

Sheer Elegance One-Shoulder Swimsuit (Neiman Marcus, $178)

Um, hi, almost identical J.Crew shirt and super-cute red bathing suit -- from Spanx! Yay! Don't be alarmed when people keep referring to you as "Olivia" on the beach.

Now on to Olivia's second look. For this one, all you need is a super-cute nautical bathing suit -- and really good hair, makeup, and lighting. Easy as pie.

Merona Women's 1-Piece Swimsuit with Rosette (Target, $34.99)

Sure, Olivia was rocking a two-piece, but this strapless one-piece was too cute to leave unposted. And, dude. For $35? Sign me up!

What will you be wearing to the beach this summer? Are you going to "do the nautical thing"?
