Under the strain of all this royal wedding coverage, how are you holding up?
I haven't covered Kate and William all THAT much here on She's Still Got It, but I've heard from some of you anyway, complaining, as one commenter did, that "... the majority of Americans don't give a rat's ass about William and Kate OR who designed her dress."
Well, as it turns out, NBC reportedly agrees with you.
Page Six is reporting that NBC is scaling back its royal wedding coverage. Several pretaped segments have been scrapped and television personalities will be heading to London later than previously scheduled. According to Page Six's source:
"The US public's interest was not what they thought," sniped an NBC insider. "Kate and Prince William are both really boring."
Bwah ha ha ha ha ha! Ahem. Sorry.
Page Six goes on to report that at least publicly, NBC disagrees with this anonymous source.
A rep for NBC denied the story, saying in a statement: "This could not be more false -- NBC News has the most aggressive and comprehensive coverage of the royal wedding, as you will see when you tune in to 'Today' starting Friday at 4 a.m. to 'Dateline' at 9 p.m. and on MSNBC, Telemundo, etc."
I'm inclined to believe that coverage probably has been scaled back at least a little bit. After all, there's only so much you can say about the royal couple. Kate's beautiful and seemingly squeaky clean and so is William. I'm sure they'll both look fabulous on their wedding day and there will be plenty of pomp and circumstance before, during, and after the ceremony. But it's true. They are a little bit ... boring.
But now I'm wondering what you think about all this royal wedding media hype. Are you sick of it, or do you, like me, plan to be up at 4 a.m. on April 29 to watch the big event unfold?
