Katie Couric & Bright Skirts Together Again in New Talk Show?

couricRumors about Katie Couric leaving her gig as the CBS Evening News anchor are getting louder, and many people believe she's trading in her desk and teleprompter for a cozy couch and live studio audience. Couric's contract is up in June, and it's very possible that she won't renew, but will instead move on to something new.

With Oprah's departure, is Couric looking to fill the Queen of Daytime's shoes? Couric left her spot on the Today Show in 2006 and reports say that she's in talks to get her own syndicated talk show in the fall of 2012.

Maybe Katie's had it with the short haircut, the boring suits, and the conservative jewelry of an evening anchor and wants her old sense of daytime style back.

Daytime hosts certainly get to have more fun on air, and sometimes even get to drink! (Right Kathy Lee and Hoda?) From cocktail recipe lessons to celebrity guests to fashion finds, the daytime and the prime time news jobs are literally and figuratively like night and day. Couric is likely fed up with poor ratings (not to mention fugly outfits) and wants to get back to her roots.

Extensions, for one thing, would be a good place to start when taking her look from hard-hitting news to daytime pop. Out with the man cut and in with the flowing locks. It will soften her up and give her a much needed freshened-up look. A more casual wardrobe would entice anyone to switch jobs -- no one likes a stuffy office atmosphere full of boring suits. Katie could get back to her 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. time slot with business casual attire that includes colorful jackets and skirts, with bright, trendy jewelry and shoes as complementary accessories.

Having a talk show would take Couric from drab to fab in one fell career change. Better hair, better makeup, and of course, better swag. Viewers will actually care what Couric will wear during her daytime gig and will want to know how to get it for themselves -- that means designers will send Couric their latest goods and wares. Right now on the evening news, no one gives two thoughts to what she wears -- her outfits aren't supposed to distract from the news so I can only guess that they're intentionally blah. Not in daytime though! It's dress-up time.

Would you like to see Katie let down her hair a little bit and pick up some style if she moves to daytime?
