10 Major Retailers With Cool Ship-to-Store Options

NordstromIf you're like me, you're somewhere right in the middle when it comes to shopping in stores vs. shopping online.

Well good news for us! Retailers are making shopping easier than ever with something called ship-to-store.

Nordstrom is just one major chain that lets you order online and pick it up in the store without paying shipping costs.

I'll tell you about nine other major retailers doing the same thing -- after the jump!

I love the idea of ship-to-store for clothing and shoe shopping in particular because number one, it saves shipping costs and number two, it means that you can go ahead and try on what you've ordered at the store, then return it right then and there if it doesn't work out.

Here are nine more major retailers with variations of this option, with information via consumer expert Andrea Woroch:

1. Walmart
Walmart now has a "Pick Up Today" option, letting you order certain items online and pick them up at the store a few hours later. Walmart expects to have this option available in all stores by June. Walmart also has tens of thousands of products online that can be shipped to your local store. Orders typically take 1-2 days to process and usually arrive at the store 7-10 business days later.

2. JCPenney
Most ship-to-store items are delivered free and can be picked up in 4-7 days. Use the "Store Locator" feature to find the retail outlet that offers free shipping to JCPenney stores.

3. REI
Shipping time for free "REI Store Pickup" varies based on where your local store is located. Your item is not eligible for the store pickup program if the option doesn't appear in your shopping cart at checkout.

4. L.L.Bean
Most in-stock items can be shipped free to the L.L.Bean store near you within about seven days.

5. Best Buy
Some items are eligible for immediate pickup and others are available for free ship-to-store. Best Buy also offers a "Friends and Family Pickup" that allows you to place an order and have someone else pick it up. As an added bonus, if your product is available in-store at a lower price when you pick the item up, your payment will automatically be adjusted to reflect the lowest available price.

6. Cabela's
Cabela's offers free shipping with in-store pickup of almost any product.

7. Sears
Items marked with a "Blue Car" logo can be picked up in-store for free. You'll be notified when the item is available. Bring in your email confirmation and credit card for processing at the in-store kiosk or curbside pickup. If your item isn't ready in five minutes, you receive a $5 store coupon.

8. Payless Shoes
Payless offers free in-store delivery. Your order will arrive in 14-17 days after it leaves the Payless warehouse.

9. Ace Hardware
When an item on AceHardware.com is available for Ship-to-Store, you can save shipping costs by choosing to have your items delivered to an Ace Hardware store near you. You'll be notified via email when your order has left the retailer's warehouse.

Have you tried the ship-to-store option? Does this option make you more likely to order online?
