Nicola Formichetti, Lady Gaga, and Sebastian PeigneParis went totally Gaga today during the Thierry Mugler RTW Fall/Winter 2011 fashion show, in which the Lady of Gaga herself made her runway debut and premiered her new hair and the new single from her album Born This Way, titled "Government Hooker."
Gaga and the models debuted the womenswear collection by Gaga's own stylist and Mugler Creative Director Nicola Formichetti. Here's what you missed in Paris today.
Imagine modern-Madonna chic with long silhouettes, super-high platform heels, and bony Gaga-famous shoulder pads. That's what the pretty Mugler fashion show had on display. Gaga herself stepped out in a big floppy hat and hip-length pigtails with a Madonna-esque bustier over a sheer top and a super-fitted, hip-slung, floor-length white skirt. Her new song "Government Hooker" blasted behind her as she moved down the catwalk.
Yesterday, Lady Gaga tweeted her excitement about the Mugler show and let her monster fans know it was coming:
I have a monster fashion announcement are your paws up? I'm so excited I might give birth to a machine gun.
I'm making my debut as a runway model, walking in the MUGLER PARIS FASHIONSHOW 3/2. I directed the show music, previewing Government Hooker.
You have no idea how much respect I have for you and for all the models, which is why I'm so fucking nervous.
If I vomit on the stage, it will be good press.
I was a Madonna-wanna in my day, and these designs make a lovely, updated resurgence of the styles Madonna made trendy. I love when designers can do that and do it well.
What's your response to Lady Gaga's runway look?
