Move Over Marcia Brady: The Center Part Is Back!

Lindsay Ferrier
Beauty & Style

GapFashion is taking on all things '70s this year, including the somewhat hard-to-wear center part.

Look in any fashion magazine right now and most of the models and celebrities will be sporting one. And that's bad news for those of us with cowlicks/widow's peaks/round faces/common sense.

A dead center part and stick-straight hair just isn't that flattering on most women. Even our Gap model friend here would look better with a little more volume and softness around her face (LOVING those flares, though). However, there is a center-part style I'm dying to try. Care to see it? Read on!

Christian Dior

Christian Dior gets it exactly right in its spring 2011 ad campaign. Add pretty curls or soft waves to offset the starkness of the center part and you've got yourself a modern update to a classic look.

This is definitely something I want to try, and when I do, I'll be sure and take pictures so you can tell me what you think. I've always hated my hair when it's parted in the middle, but I'd love to be proven wrong, and I think this might just be the way to go about it.

Bottega VenetaI'm also loving this windblown Bottega Veneta center-part style, which you could get with some styling cream and large velcro rollers.

What do you think of the center part? (And why can I not stop thinking of my hippie bus driver and shuddering each time I write the words "center part"?) Are you willing to try out this look for spring?
