Band of OutsidersIt's not enough to simply send models down the catwalk anymore during New York Fashion Week. This time around, designers used everything from flash mobs to ice skaters to rappelling to draw attention to their fall 2011 lines.

Moncler abandoned the runway altogether, opting instead to create a flash mob of luxe skiwear-wearing models in New York's Grand Central Station. The high-energy show drew hundreds of onlookers and I loved this idea. It was nice seeing the designs get put through their paces on the dancers.

Band of Outsiders took it to eleven by having its models rappell to the catwalk from the ceiling. AWESOME.

And designer Elise Overland put her models on the ice skating rink, along with Olympic skater Johnny Weir. So cool.

However, these shows definitely got my attention!
