Forget precious structured bags and satchels. This spring, the tote is in and that's good news for moms and for those of us without a whole lot of cash to throw around.
Once reserved for beach trips, this upcoming season, the tote can be carried as your main bag.
I love totes because they're big enough to fit your makeup, wallet, favorite novel, and all your kids' gear, too -- and many of them are cheap enough that it won't matter if your kid's sippy cup spills in the bottom.
I'm sure the tote-carrying model at Tommy Hilfiger's Spring 2011 runway show doesn't have to worry about spilled sippy cups, but whatevs.
Her time is coming.
Want to see some cute and affordable totes to consider as you do your spring wardrobe shopping?
I'm a big fan of Magid's straw totes, which are available in several different styles on Endless.com. This basic bucket tote (Endless, $58.60) is one of my faves. In addition to basic black, it also comes in lots of other fun spring colors like fuchsia, lime, and turquoise.
I love this Anya Hindmarch Boat Bag (Bloomingdale's, $135), which manages to be both hip and relaxed.
This Canvas Shopper (Tommy Hilfiger, $49.50) is classy and comes at a great price!
I've been lusting after this The Journal Bon Shopper (Kate Spade, $145) for a while now. Too cute!
I'm a big fan of this Boden Book Bag (Boden, $48), but I can't get it because I already have a dress in this pattern!
You have to admit this Rebecca Minkoff Cherish Cheetah Print Tote (Saks Fifth Avenue, $95) is pretty freaking awesome -- and a great price for a Rebecca Minkoff bag.
Lilly Pulitzer's retro-looking totes are killing me for spring. This Sea and Be Seen Tote (Lilly Pulitzer, $148) is one of my faves.
Will you rock a tote this spring?
