At the tender age of 18, Miley Cyrus already has five tattoos. She just got the fifth one this past week and it sounds like her coolest, by far. Still, how does an 18-year-old girl end up with that many tattoos?
"It's a picture of the dream catcher that hangs over her bed with four feathers to represent her four brothers and sisters," says the friend. (Miley's siblings are Brandi, 23, Trace, 21, Braison, 16, and Noah, 11.) "The dream catcher is to protect them."
It sounds like a tattoo that has a lot of meaning and I am the first to admit that I love tattoos. They look cool, they mean something to the person getting them, and they're just super hot. But at 18, I wonder if she'll have regrets ...
Her other tattoos include a heart and a small cross on her fingers, the word "love" on her ear, and the phrase "just breathe" on her rib cage in honor of a close friend who died of cystic fibrosis.
"All of Miley's tattoos have a deep meaning to her," says the friend. "They all represent family and friends close to her."
Those are the best kind of tattoos, of course. When I was her age, I sat in a tattoo parlor, ready to get a chili pepper permanently etched onto my foot. At the last minute, I chickened out and ran out of the place and I'm so glad I did.
I'm sure now, nearly 15 years later, I would make the best of it, but it's scary how close I came to getting something I would have seriously regretted. It wasn't until 15 years later when I got my first tattoo.
My husband and I got a design that makes our initials when we are together, but means nothing when we are apart. We got it for our seventh wedding anniversary and it makes me so happy every time I look at it.
There is nothing wrong with tattoos. But I do wonder if in 15 years, Miley is really going to want so many. We all do things in our youth we wish we could undo. The difference is, with Miley, she won't be able to do so.
Do you think she will regret so many tattoos?
