Kenneth Cole Tweet Not as Offensive as Spring Collection

Kenneth Cole's Twitter faux pas ain't over yet. After making a completely insensitive remark about Cairo last week and issuing a half-assed apology, he's now claiming on his Facebook page that he's spent his life "raising awareness about serious social issues."

Um, isn't he a fashion designer? Yes, Cole has used fashion to raise AIDS awareness and support other admirable causes like amfAR and Rock the Vote, but maybe he's spent too much time on said efforts and should focus on breathing life back into his clothes.

Case in point: His 2011 spring collection is boring.

"The collection is influenced by our global landscape, including rugged mountains, the Sahara desert and the tropical rain forest," explains Cole in a behind-the-scenes video.

Let's take a look:

Here is the Eaton Washed Leather Jacket, retailing at $450. Just perfect for dashing through the streets with a car bomb!

And also the same style of men's outerwear we've been seeing for years. Wah-wah.

Equally drab is the Draped Knot Dress, available for $199:

Tropical landscape? I think not!

And then there's the Tote Of The Town Hobo bag, also retailing at $199:

Well, one thing Cole was right about is this collection is as dry as the Sahara desert.

Cole should not try to solve the world's problems -- and simultaneously make fun of them -- and get back to designing clothes.

What do you think of Cole's spring line? Worth the fuss?
