This is NOT me.I am very, very aware of the fingerless gloves trend, and I think they can be very useful to girls who live in urban areas, use public transportation, and want to stay warm while also being able to use their iPads/iPhones/iPods. I especially appreciate the ones with the convertible mitten flaps. How helpful!
But more and more, I'm seeing fingerless gloves worn not outdoors, but indoors, as fashion accessories. This kind of thing is to be expected on women in their early twenties, who are trying on various personalities and trends and are expected to be a bit affected.
But on mamas? And middle-aged women?
Oh hellz naw.
Now, I hate to think that some of you are reading this, shedding a few tears and wiping them away with one shaking, fingerless gloved hand. Don't be offended if you rock this look, because I can tell you now that my closet is filled with things that some of you would find completely silly if you saw me in them, from my mid-thigh length faux fur mink vest to my "Make Biscuits Not War" trucker's cap.
This is simply a matter of personal preference for me. I just think that when fingerless gloves are worn indoors for no purpose, it's crazy looking. It's like wearing rainboots when it's not raining, or wearing swim goggles at a PTA meeting. What exactly are you trying to tell the world with your totally unnecessary fingerless gloves?
MY PALMS ARE ALWAYS COLD. MY FINGERS, NOT SO MUCH.
I AM ARTSY CRAFTSY. YOU CAN TELL BY MY KNITTED FINGERLESS GLOVES.
I MAY HAVE A TATTOO OF ALF ON THE TOP OF MY HAND. BUT YOU'LL NEVER KNOW, WILL YOU?
Ahhh, I feel better now. But I'd love to hear from you. Do you wear fingerless gloves indoors? If so, why? Perhaps we can have a spirited debate on the matter and all hug it out at the end. And are there any fashion trends driving you crazy right now? Jeggings? Booties? There are sooo many places we could go with this!
