A lot of people think it's fun to get trashed and get tattoos (we're looking at you and your ice cream cone, Gucci Mane). Even though reputable tattoo artists are supposed to turn away drunk clientele, tipsy tattoos still happen plenty. Even Kelly Osbourne is talking about the regret that can come after a night of drinking and inking.
Kelly told OK magazine: "I was drunk for most of my tattoos!" Oops! It's bad enough when you say or do something you regret while intoxicated. At least you can carry the hope that everyone else will forget. Not so with drunk tattoos. Recalling one particular tattoo she got, Osbourne said, "I was so f**ked up when I got it, the next morning I woke up and thought, 'What's this on my arm?'"
Ms. Osbourne began the painful procedure of laser tattoo removal last fall, starting with the removal of a keyboard tattoo on her arm and a heart and crossbones tattoo on her wrist.
She says she used to defend her drunken antics to her mom for fear of revealing that she made a really stupid mistake. "I thought the only way I wouldn't get a massive telling off from my mom was to own it. I was like, 'Look how cool this is, mom!' But really I thought, 'Why did I do that?'"
"I'm done with them now, I want them gone. I actually think it's refreshing to see someone who doesn't have any."
My husband also has some tattoo regrets, but he wasn't drunk when he got them. He was a new dad, feeling strange in his new, more responsible role, right about the time a good friend of his starting doing tattoo work for a living. Not a good combination. Thus, several tattoos began showing up on his arm.
Do you have any tattoos you regret? Were you drunk when you got them?
