NordstromExpect to see plenty of flowy maxi skirts and dresses this spring and summer.

The prettiest versions are sheer floral prints, lace and tulle, or silky Modal. Nordstrom has already rolled out a few in its January catalog (check out the photo to your left), and Free People has virtually cornered the maxi skirt market, offering dozens in its spring lineup.

Many women have an aversion to maxi skirts, but I think they can be flattering, provided you choose one that's flowy and not made of a heavy fabric.

A maxi skirt also is a great buy to transition into spring ahead of the trend.

You can work a black maxi into your wardrobe right now and get a leg up on all the other girls in your neighborhood.

I've even done the work for you and found the prettiest maxis on the market right now, in a range of prices that even the tightest budget can afford.

Check them out after the jump!

Free PeopleIf you're a big fan of the trend, the first place to go is Free People, which offers gorgeous, well-made maxis in all kinds of boho prints and fabrics. I'm liking this Directions in Lace Maxi Slip (Free People, $148) in particular, which also comes in black.

Forever 21However, Free People is for Rich People, judging by its prices. Instead, I think I'm going to buy this Lace Maxi Skirt (Forever 21, $19.80), which is the same look for a WHOLE LOT less!

Macy'sAnother tremendously tempting purchase right now is this INC Convertible tube dress (Macy's, $59), which can be worn as a dress or folded over as a maxi skirt. The price is right and the options are endless with this one. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Saks Fifth AvenueOn the luxe side of things, this Rachel Pally Striped Maxi Skirt (Saks Fifth Avenue, $198) is to die for. Stripes are also big again this spring and I love the fullness of this skirt.

ASOSIf you're looking for something more affordable, however, you can't do better than this ASOS Seam Detail Maxi Skirt (ASOS, $17.24), which also comes in charcoal and coral.

Free PeopleThere aren't many printed maxi skirts out yet this early in the season, but this Leaves of Memory skirt (Free People, $49.95 on sale) is a notable, price-friendly exception.

RugbyAnd I keep coming back to this Silk-Blend Tiered Ruffle Skirt (Rugby, $119.99 on sale), which i just love. Ruffles are another trend that's back for spring, so you can't go wrong with this skirt.
