Just when we thought Gwyneth Paltrow was gone, reduced to a Martha Stewart-lite who liked to make people feel bad for not being her, she jumps on Glee, has a new movie, shows a (somewhat) hidden talent for singing, and lands the 200th cover of InStyle.
Talk about a comeback!
Gwyneth is looking her beautiful, stylish self in a white t-shirt and shorts accessorized with a ripped, casual take on a classic boucle jacket. Her makeup looks natural and her hair undone and lightly wavy. Oh Gwyneth, you who look perfect with no work, eternally 24. How do you do it?
Her cover is InStyle's 200th and it makes sense. Who is more in style in every way than Gwyneth? Especially now.
In 1994, the magazine started with a cover featuring Barbra Streisand, which is fitting. Both are regal in carriage, dignified, intelligent, and major, long-lasting stars, not just flash-in-the-pan starlets.
Both Babs and Gwyneth can sing, though Babs is clearly more well known for it. Both can also act. Babs nabbed an Oscar for Funny Girl in 1969 -- three years before Gwyneth was even born. But Gwyneth won nearly 30 years later for Shakespeare in Love.
Both have -- and likely will -- stand the test of time. They are excellent bookends for a magazine, which is arguably one of the arbiters of style for mainstream America. InStyle made a video celebrating 200 issues and 16 years of publication.
Seems like the two mega stars are a good fit for what the magazine is all about. Keep up the good work!
Do you think their pick was good for the 200th cover?
