You know if it's seen on the set of Gossip Girl, it qualifies as a major, MAJOR trend.
And that's just what can be said of Leighton Meester's full-skirted camel coat.
I love, love, love this look.
Not only is it hot right now, it's such a classy cut that you'll be able to wear it for years to come (though preferably not with UGG Boots like Leighton).
While I'm sure Leighton's coat cost more than most of your mortgage payments, not to fear, ladies!
I've got a lovely selection of affordable skirted coats ...
After the jump.

I am completely head over heels for this In Perfect Accordian Coat (Modcloth, $119.99). Sure it doesn't look very warm. But who cares?
Here's a classic skirted coat look at a price that's livable: The Fit and Flare Coat (ASOS, $172.40).
Check out this awesome military-inspired Upper Deck Coat (ModCloth, $162.99)! *swoon*
Get Leighton's look on a budget with this Oatmeal Wool Skirted Coat (Top Shop, $190).
This Calvin Klein Skirt Coat (Bluefly, $199) is totally haut.
What do you think of the full-skirted coat? Would you wear one?

Cute, I would wear it.
And while "the rest of the world" may view Uggs as being untrendy
$190 is on a budget?????
Oh lordy, Lindsay, you need to live on enlisted military pay for a bit. :) I totally challenge you to find me something LIKE these, for plus-sized women, for UNDER $50. You game?
YAY, RANA!!!!! $50 is affordable, $190 is dream-land. And prayers would be answered if these lovely coats were made for us voluptuous women!!
I`d totally wear it. The military inspired one is calling my name ;)
Ladies, you just need to keep an eye on the sales- and think about buying your coats at the end of winter- for next year. My stepdaughter just went to Macy's and found a gorgeous coat (and chose from many more with the same great deals) that had retailed for around $280. With all the special discounts, she got it for $100.
I know $100 is more than $50, but if you can scrape it together, it's worth it- You can wear a good coat for ten years if you have to and you take good care of it!
And if you must know, I got my new, $600 coat for $70 from Ideeli, which is one of those membership flash sale sites (click here if you want to join- It's free.) I had a few credits from Ideeli from friends who'd signed up and I paid the difference $70! It takes some searching and planning, but it can be done!
You've given me a good challenge though, Rana! I'll see what I can do. :D
My one complaint about skirted coats? They tend to make women look fatter than they really are. I think they're gorgeous, and I love the added length in the cold, but I think I'll stick to my peacoat.
So Jeanne, for me, as a fat woman (if I say it funny, it's not so sad), you'd recommend I skip the skirt bit? I can see that.
Lindsay, I prod you because I really do love these coats, but I'm a poor lady. ;)
