Is a $432 Skincare Regimen Worth the Money?

Nu SkinWhen I was offered a chance to try Nu Skin's ageLOC Transformatin Package, I was pretty excited.

I had heard good things about Nu Skin and regular readers know I've wondered before whether higher-end skin care lines are really worth the extra cash. Together, the four products in Nu Skin's agLOC system were $432!

For that price, Nu Skin promises that this line "cleanses, purifies, renews, moisturizes, and reveals younger looking skin in eight ways—for a more youthful, healthier looking you now and in the future."

Well, I've used it now for about six weeks. Want to know if I saw a difference? Read on...

After the first week or two, my answer would have been hellz naw.

I only used the cleanser a few times because it didn't remove my makeup and I prefer a cleanser that also removes all traces of my makeup. (In my case, that would be Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser).

And I only used the serum for three weeks because, well, I couldn't stand the smell. And that's probably a good thing for my wallet, because the serum by itself costs $224!

That left me with the Radiant Day SPF 22 lotion and the Transforming Night Lotion, which I have used religiously. And for the first few weeks, I didn't really see much of a difference in my skin.

After about four weeks of use, though, I really started noticing a change. My skin is much softer and smoother now than it was before. I've also had no breakouts, and typically I'd have a few small bumps at some point over the last six weeks.

At this point, I feel completely addicted to these face lotions! And I love the way my face feels-- smooth and line-free. Based on my experience, I'd say these Nu Skin's ageLOC lotions are perfect for women in their 30s and 40s and based on my lack of breakouts and the fact that the lotions feel very lightweight and non-greasy on, I'd say they're good for those of you with sensitive skin.

The good news is that both lotions are fairly reasonably priced. ageLOC Radiant Day SPF 22 is $67.50 and ageLOC Transforming Night (my favorite) is $78.50.

My advice if you're wondering whether to invest in a particular skin care system is to read reviews of it before you buy, or ask your friends if they've tried it. That way you'll have an idea of what to expect before you put your money into it.

What's the most you'd spend on a skincare system?

Disclosure: Nu Skin provided me with a skincare system so that I could review it. Obviously, my opinions are my own.
