Stylish Winter Hats You Can Afford

Beauty & Style 18

Taylor SwiftY'all. I say this with great love for you all and true compassion in my heart for your fashion choices.

But I am not believing how many of you grown women admitted yesterday (WITH PRIDE!) that YOU WEAR HATS WITH EARS. I think Tim Gunn would agree with me when I say, That just ain't right. But you're all so fabulous that I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on that one.

The Stir reader Julie did have one request in the comments of that post:

I'd love to see your recommendations for winter hats ... I always like to wear something a bit funky myself. I live in NY so winter can be depressing enough as it is, I think fun winter hats make it just a bit less humdrum.

Julie, I think I can help!

First, let's take a look at Taylor Swift. The girl loves winter hats, and she wears them well. You really can't go wrong with a red knit beanie and as I've proven already, they are very versatile!

Want to see more stylish winter hat ideas? Read on!

Cloche hats are huge this season and it's easy to find an affordable one, like this version by Catarzi (ASOS, $37.93).

Urban OutfittersI'm also loving this Cloche Hat in gray (Urban Outfitters, $34).

J. CrewI'm dying a little bit over this Gem-Laden Knit Hat (J.Crew, $72). Hip and pretty.

AnthropologieAnthropologie has some amazing winter hats, like this Pretty as a Present Cabbie (Anthropologie, $58).

AnthropologieAnd check out this fantastic At Your Service Cap (Anthropologie, $38). I can see a lot of my mom friends in this one.

Kate SpadeNot funky enough for you? This Kate Spade Ski Cap (Kate Spade, $75) is about as far as I'd go. I have to admit, this would look pretty festive during the holidays ...

DeliasAnd of course, there's the Taylor Swift-endorsed beanie. This Cassady Beanie (Delias, $14.50) is a great price and comes in several different colors. Choose a bright one to liven up dull winter days.

What do you think of these hats? Are you on this side of the fence? Or do you prefer ears and animals?

Ouch, that gem hat is awful. You'd wear a hat that says BRRRRRRR but not one with little ears? You're weird, dude. Or maybe not weird ENOUGH.

Sigh.  Once again, she with the 24 inch circumference head will not be able to get the cute hats. (Average for women is about 21 inches.)

What about all the knit hats here, Marsha? They seem pretty stretchy...

I definitely have to get the At your service hat. LOVE it.  I'm starting to knit a hat that looks just like Taylor Swifts red hat. Hopefully it turns out amazing! =)

Thanks for the recommendations :) I may have to find one like the gray Anthropologie hat, but priced a bit more in my budget :)

TOTALLY love the J. Crew hat! I don't get the reference to hats with ears, though. The only hat with ears I can think of is the Mouseketeer cap.

Click the link for the post, or just scroll down a story after you click on my column header. You'll see all the animal ear hats for women you can stand!  ;D

Watching me put on a knit hat is quite comical to observers.  It stays on for about 3 seconds then -pop- it goes!

I rarely wear hats. I have my big Southern hair to keep my head (and ears) warm!

But I might have to try that cute red cap that Taylor Swift is wearing...
