Jessica Simpson may not always dress to the nines, but her fashion line is doing really well -- like a billion dollars really well. In fact, it's become one of the most successful celebrity fashion lines. Of all time.
But honestly, when you look at the competing celebrity fashion lines, it's not exactly hard to see why hers is selling.
She designed her line (er, or paid talented people to do so) for real people. Just check out this outfit to the right ... I'd totally wear that. And so would my best friend. And so would my mom. It's chic yet looks extremely comfortable.
Other celebrity designers seem to pigeonhole who they design for instead of for a broad audience.
Compared to these five other celeb lines, Jessica is like Ralph friggin' Lauren.
The Kardashian sisters' line, K-Dash, is being sold on QVC. While the prices are somewhat reasonable, the clothing is hideous. The only people I visualize wearing these pieces are rich retired folks living in Boca.
Lindsay Lohan's 6126 line (hmm, wonder what inspired the name -- her inmate number perhaps?) is what you would expect from the party girl -- short skirts and barely there tops. She even sluts up hoodies -- how is that even possible?
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that I never see anyone EVER wear this dress from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's fashion line, The Row. Amen.
Victoria Beckham actually has some beautiful designs. Unfortunately, the majority of us can't afford it. Celebs like Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, and Gwyneth Paltrow have all rocked her looks on the runway.
Okay, I admit that I'm kind of in love with Madonna and daughter Lourdes's fashion line, Material Girl. And the fact that it's affordable makes me love it even more. But my fashion sense can be a little out there sometimes, and I can see why not everyone would be drawn to these '80s-inspired rocker glam looks.
What do you think? Is Jessica Simpson making the best clothes?
