It's a known fact that when Oprah likes something, her cult follows suit, and suddenly, whatever product it may be becomes their favorite as well. Unfortunately for her cult, her annual Favorite Things list consists of a $70 mac-n-cheese (not kidding). Clearly, she's not aiming for the everyday person here.
So here is another version of Oprah's Favorite Things list, one that's more realistic for us regular folks.
Instead of the limited edition 25th anniversary "Oprah" diamond watch ($2,475), go for the Seiko Coutura watch. Diamonds, check. Two time zones, check. Oprah-chicness, double check.
I admit that I'm a fan of the Tory Burch Gray Flannel Tote Bag ($250), and for a true flannel tote, that's not a bad price, but I simply cannot justify spending $200 on a pair of Tory Burch ballet flats. These ballet flats from Forever 21 are about a tenth of the price, and looky, the bow on the toe is kinda like Tory Burch's trademark.
Ralph Lauren's plush cashmere cable-knit sweater is definitely hard to resist ... at least until you throw in the $500 pricetag. This one from Neiman Marcus has all of the luxurious materials and design but comes at a much cheaper price.
Oprah is a fan of the Judith Ripka diamond Eclipse earrings ($525), but you know what I'm a fan of? Earrings that look like they cost half a grand but are actually only $40. Thank you Fantasy Jewelery Box.
Lululemon is the creme de la creme of yogawear, but seriously, how complicated can a pair of yoga pants ($98) be? I'm perfectly content with these Aerie yoga pants ($29.50) from American Eagle Outfitters.
Oprah may swear by her fave Andre Walker Hair Care line ($90 for gift set), but my go-to hair product line is Moroccan Oil. At $50, it's still a bit of a splurge, but it's totally worth it.
Think Oprah's Favorite Things should consist of more realistic prices?
