Rachel Weisz was looking absolutely lovely in Manhattan this week while on her way to a L'Oreal photo shoot.
You know I love her camel coat and leopard-print scarf, but what really makes her style stand out is ...
Yes, ladies, Rach is wearing the nail color-of-the-moment:
And she's not the only one out and about with short red fingernails.
Red nails were spotted on the runway models at Dior, Giorgio Armani, and Lagerfeld's Fall 2010 shows.
They evoke a wonderful, 1950s-era retro feel, and are a great style compromise if the red lips look that's so trendy right now is a bit too much for you.
Read on for a few of my favorite red nail color options ...
While runway models were pairing their bright red nails with bright red lips at the fall shows, I much prefer Weisz's real-life look -- wearing red nail polish with a more natural face and neutral colors like camel or gray. (News flash: This look carries right into spring as well -- models were spotted wearing camel-colored dresses with red lips and nails at the Gucci spring show!)
Another look for those who veer toward the Drama Queen end of the spectrum is adding a white half moon to the base of your manicure with a white nail pen. Check out this picture from Elle Magazine to see what I'm talking about. This was spotted on a fall runway and I have no doubt that more than a few style mavens are copying it now in some of the world's most fashion-savvy cities.
As for choosing a great red polish, Elle.com recommends the following:
Revlon Nail Enamel in Revlon Red (Drugstore.com, $4.79) is a nice price and you can find it in just about any drugstore.
OPI Nail Lacquer in So Hot It Berns (Amazon, $4.35) is another budget-friendly option that's a perfect shade of red. Ordering now!
What do you think about a retro-red manicure? Will you try this look for fall?
