In an era of impossible standards for beauty and the subsequent airbrushing, retouching, plastic surgery, and eating disorders that follow, here's some news that might just make your day.
At the recent Giles Spring/Summer 2011 Show during London Fashion Week, a 71-year-old model walked the catwalk along with her younger counterparts.
And while I'm sure her appearance was designed to get the show a little extra attention from the media, rest assured that this particular septuagenarian was more than qualified to be strutting her stuff on the runway.
Want to know why?
Her name is Veruschka von Lehndorff, and back in the 1960s, she was a hot modeling commodity.
Take that, Janice Dickinson!
Although she was wildly famous in the fashion industry, and played muse to luminaries such as artist Salvador Dali and former Harper's Bazaar editor Diana Vreeland, by this decade, she's been reported to have no savings and living with two friends and eight cats in Brooklyn.
Maybe her recent runway walk was the start of a comeback?
Let's hope so! Sounds like she's led a fascinating life.
What do you think of older models on the catwalk? Could this trend take off?
