Last weekend, I took my husband to see The Pixies.
It's not often that I go to a rock concert, so I really had to think when it came time to decide what to wear.
I also wore a black tank top, and at the last second, I fished a vintage black Armani Exchange PVC blazer that I'd never worn out of the bag I had marked for Goodwill.
For real life, it was awful.
For a rock concert, IT WAS PERFECT.
I added a pair of mid-calf boots and I was set to jet!
My husband LOVED this outfit (which was all that mattered to me!) and we had a terrific night out.
Want to find some concert-worthy clothing that will fit your budget?
A black leather jacket is a timeless investment and well worth the money (I've had one for more than a decade now and still wear it several times a year), but if you're short on cash, you could always opt for a cute faux leather jacket like this (Minus the) Leather Moto Jacket (Express, $98).
For a hot, of-the-moment skirt that doesn't show off too much leg, check out this knit wrap skirt (Forever 21, $26). By the way, I just got an almost identical one for twice the price at Express, and now I'm steamed to see this one for JUST 26 DOLLARS. URGH.
If you're iffy on skirts, try a cool pair of slim-fitting or boot-cut jeans instead, like these Guess Daredevil Distressed Jeans (Lord & Taylor, $66.75 on sale).
A simple tank like this James Perse Long Tank (Saks Fifth Avenue, $45) looks great layered underneath a jacket. You could opt for black or white, but black is far more slimming. Tuck it in with the skirt (which has a very nice belt-like waistband, did you notice?) for a more streamlined look.
Finally, get yourself a pair of kickass, yet comfortable boots if you don't have some already. Sure, super-high heels are sexy, but you're going to be doing a lot of standing if the band's any good at all, and hobbling to your car at the end of the night really isn't a hot look. For the money, I like these MIA boots (Revolve Clothing, $88).
Now I want to hear from those of you who've been to a concert recently-- What did you wear?
