I spent last night gazing longingly at the scores of looks DKNY has put on its website for fall.
You really should check it out for yourself if you have a chance- You can see dozens of head-to-toe outfits dreamed up by DKNY's stylists. What I love about them is that they're largely composed of basics you probably already have in your closet- and really, there's a look for just about anyone, from size 6 to 16.
Check out this outfit to your left, for example, which ties right into the menswear-for-women trend that's hot this fall. Take a white button down shirt, add a gray vest and slim-fitting khaki crop pants and you're instantly in style. This outfit would work at most workplaces-- or at car rider pick up at your kids' school.
Brilliant!

Get out the slim-fitting pants, girls, because DKNY seems really fond of them this season and I am loving them with these drapey sweaters.
This kind of outfit hides a multitude of sins, while still looking stylish and slimming.
I'm all over it.

For larger women, I think both these outfits would be very flattering. Long, flyaway cardigans can be found in abundance this season. Wear them over a black top and black leggings or slim pants.
Or wear one over a pretty black dress and black tights. A lower boot will make your legs look even thinner.

Trying to casually transition into fall? How about these two options?
Ruffly button down shirts can be found everywhere right now, and I love the idea of pairing one with slim-fitting gray pants, one of the hottest colors of the upcoming season.
Another idea is to wear a nice, loose-fitting blouse with your summer crop pants to dress the look up a bit. The gray booties keep things from getting too matchy-matchy.

I'm absolutely craving one of these sequined infinity scarves now.
Can you believe what it does to dress up an outfit? It's a perfect way to add the sequined, sparkly look to your wardrobe without spending too much on a top or skirt.
Also loving the gray jacket as an update option.
And check out those over-the-knee boots! Here's a realistic way to wear them!
So that should give you a little inspiration as you think about what you want to buy this fall. I'm compiling a must-have list right now and I'll share it with you soon.
What's on your must-have list? Would you replicate any of the looks I've shown you aboe?

I like the looks with leggings and the ruffly blouse looks. I am not really a fan of the menswear for women look, especially not the one featured, this particular look looks very mismatched to me and not in a good way. I may find that as fall progresses, it will grow on me but the vests are reminding me a lot of the early 90s and again, not in a good way.
(I added you as a friend on FB Lindsay, I was unsure if it's your personal FB page or your "fan" page so to speak, you can consider me a fan. ;) )
The leggings are more my style, too, but I liked the first picture because it took two items many women have in their closets and added booties and a menswear vest to instantly make it look 'now.'
I'll check my FB friend requests now! Thanks for letting me know! We are fashion friends-- that counts, right? :)
Amy, I might buy a gray pair if I could buy them cheaply, but I'm planning on buying a black pair, just because I know I'll wear them all the time. You can never go wrong with black. I think that if you buy tall boots this season, though, they should be brown. Everyone's doing brown boots even with all black looks, so it's a safe bet.
LaDonna, you're the best judge of what looks good on you, but I think leggings and slim fitting pants can look really good on plus-sized women, provided they have ample coverage up top like a pretty long cardigan or drapey long tunic top that goes AT LEAST mid-thigh or lower.
Dana, you've just reminded me I've GOT to look up that scarf on the DKNY site. It's so awesome with the jacket. I'm looking for a perfect-fitting black blazer this year, too. :)
I'm tempted to buy gray boots or booties. I have knee-hi boots in black and brown, short boots in brown, and booties in red. I was thinking about getting black booties, but the gray looks so interesting... Hmmm... if I find a really good sale, maybe I can get both. What are my chances of buy one, get one, and 75% off?
(rationalizing here) You know, I live in a part of the country where winter lasts 6 months. I NEED to expand my boot wardrobe.
I think it's a great idea. Gray is the new neutral!
Here are lots of inexpensive options from Charlotte Russe- I think all of these come in gray (Did a search for Gray bootie):

I like the flat slouchy booties at charlotte russe, and they come in black and gray, and I could get both pairs for $36 plus shipping. You are quite the shoe temptress, Lindsay.
Cute...looks comfy! I would maybe wear most of these.
