Have you noticed how hot Drew Barrymore has been looking lately?
Yesterday in London, she showed off what's going to be one of the biggest looks this fall season -- red and black, baby!
I have to admit that I'm beside myself about this new trend -- I have always, always loved red and black together, and I wear it whenever possible.
I'm betting that you already have plenty of black pieces in your closets. This season, put on a red jacket over that little black dress. Let a pair of red shoes turn your drab black pants and white shirt into a standout look. Or carry a red bag to give your outfits a great pop of color.
Need some affordable options? That's what I'm here for, girls! Read on to see some of my favorite red and black outfit ideas for fall ...
You're going to LOVE THEM.
I'm now officially obsessed with this Audrey Hepburn-inspired dress (Boden, $98). Wear it bare-legged with black stilettos or later in the season, with opaque black stockings and black heels, booties, or boots. A long pair of black beads would look good with this dress, too.
And I'm equally enthralled by this Easy Knitted Dress (Boden, $128). See how the model's wearing it? Yeah. Do that.
Have you ever seen anything more gorgeous than this Showpiece Tee (Anthropologie, $58)? Put this with a black pencil skirt for work or with your favorite pair of black pants for any occasion. LOVE.
I also really like this Swing Low Tee (Anthropologie, $68), which would look great on its own or as a layering piece underneath your favorite black jacket or blazer.
I try to keep a red pair of jeans or pants in my wardrobe at all times. Tops on my wish list right now? These See by Chloe skinny jeans (TheOutnet, $58 on sale). They used to be $290, so that's quite a bargain!
Another wardrobe staple is a good red skirt. I'm particularly fond of this red crepe pencil skirt (White House Black Market, $88). Try a reverse Drew and wear it with a black, belted sweater or top.
I bought a red trench a few years ago and it's now my go-to coat in fall and spring. Now that trenches are hot, it's a better time than ever to get your own. I love this Michael Kors double-breasted trench coat (Lord & Taylor, $138 on sale). It's almost half off its original price right now, so get it while you can!
I'm also taken by this Michael Kors Short Melton Pea Jacket (Nordstrom, $198). If you can swing it, I think this jacket would be worth every penny.
Girl, you've gotta have a pair of red shoes this season. I saw these Jessica Simpson Evoni platform sandals (Nordstrom, $89.95) in the September issue of Lucky Magazine (with black pants!) and I'm. In. Love. Wear them with jeans, trousers, or your favorite LBD.
And don't forget these fab suede booties (Charlotte Russe, $30). They're no longer $25, but still a fantastic deal -- I saw an identical pair for nearly $100!
Finally, a red bag will serve you well for years to come. This year, the satchel is all the rage -- London Fog always has great prices on leather bags and this Madeline satchel (Endless, $95) is no exception.
I also like this Steve Madden oversized BStellar bag (Steve Madden, $98).
And that's that!
Will you be rocking the red and black this fall?
