Booties: The Must-Have Shoe for Fall

J.CrewI can hear the grumbling all the way over here in Nashville.

"I don't need booties! Are you kidding? Booties?! I've got enough shoes as it is!"

Believe me when I tell you that while this season's fall/winter styles are fairly classic and include lots of items you probably already have in your closet (YAY!), a good pair of booties (or two or four) will single-handedly make you look 100% current for fall 2010.

The best part? Booties look great with pants, dresses, and skirts.

Read on to see photos of how to wear your new booties, as well as some budget-friendly versions to call your own.

NordstromYou can wear your booties with pants or leggings, as in this photo from Nordstrom's August catalog ...

Anthropologie Or, as pictured here in Anthropologie's August catalog, you can pair your booties with a dress or skirt. Wear them either bare-legged or with tights or thin anklet socks.

AnthropologieI'm kind of loving these $198 Anthropologie booties, actually (not to mention their surreal setting). They look like the kind of shoes I'd wear if I were married to Bilbo Baggins.

AnthropologieIn fact, Anthropologie has lots of exquisite versions. But they're all rather expensive. What's a girl to do?

READ SHE'S STILL GOT IT, of course! I've done the work for you and found the cutest, most budget-friendly booties on the market!

Charlotte RusseI'm also crazy for these sexy Bandage Strappy Heels (Charlotte Russe, $25 on sale). On sale, they're more than half off, so if you like them, get them now!

TargetI'm totally feeling this Black Kamiah Peep-Toe Bootie (Target, $29.99), which comes in several different colors. Thank you, Target!

EndlessOr you could opt to add some interest to your look with this N.Y.L.A. Perrie Bootie (Endless, $57.72).

I'm a huge fan of Fergie's line of shoes, and this Ruckus Bootie (Nordstrom, $99.95) is no exception. It also comes in black.

Forever 21Need a lower heel (or a lower price)? How about these Crinkled Ankle Boots (Forever 21, $27.80)?

NordstromFinally, I can't leave out this super-stylish Steve Madden Chelseey Bootie (Nordstrom, $98.95). LOVE.

What do you think of the bootie? Is it a must-have for your wardrobe?
