Red is the color of all things hot. Think about it -- cinnamon, stove tops, fire, firemen ... And nothing (nothing!) is hotter than a red pair of shoes. Just ask Dorothy, The Wizard of Oz heroine who was willing to go to a lot of trouble just to keep her pair of bitchin' ruby heels.

As a child, I obsessed about those red shoes and now my daughter has her own pair she loves to rock around the house (see left). And even though I'm a million years older, that love of red shoes has never left my heart.

So, in honor of The Wizard of Oz, which turned 71 on August 12, I give you a few pairs of red shows that I am coveting right now:

Wonder Woman, eat your heart out: Talk about stylin'. This pair of Type Z red suede boots would have any lady singing like Judy Garland, and they can also spice up your Wonder Woman costume on Halloween, for the win!



Make my heart pump: These Stuart Weitzman pumps are worth going over the rainbow and back for. How amazing would these look with some skinny jeans and a simple white tank top? It makes me wish date night was every night.


Pin-Up dreams: I wasn't born in the 1920s or 30s and I don't have much practical use for corsets and cherry print halter dresses, but oh do I love that pinup style. These wedges would look adorable with white jeans a nautical-striped t-shirt. Just thinking about it makes me want to set sail.

A little bit comfy: These shoes are shiny, won't break the bank, are sexy, and also look somewhat comfortable. Perfect for long trips by foot down yellow brick roads!
