Boho Style Inspiration in North Carolina

Chalk It Up!While passing through North Carolina on our way to the beach this past week, we made a quick stop in Hendersonville, North Carolina, which contains a charming downtown area and McFarlans, the best bakery in the whole world.

We were lucky enough to happen upon this annual competition called Chalk It Up, where contestants from under 5 to over 75 make canvases out of the downtown sidewalks. AWESOME!

I spotted this artist hard at work on a fishbowl piece and was charmed not only by her artistry, but also by her incredible style.

Want to see it for yourself and find out who she is?

Tomoko KobayashiHer name is Tomoko Kobayashi, and is she not the cutest thing you've ever seen?

I love how she's taken a few items you're likely to have in your own closet and put them together to create her own laid-back, boho style.

Want to make Tomoko's look your own? No problem! Here are some copycat styles that will have you up to date with the artsy fartsy North Carolina crowd in no time!

Tilly'sTomoko's hat gives everything a casual, laid-back feel. This Straw Cowboy Hat (Tilly's, $12.99) looks just about right. I love Tomoko's side ponytail underneath -- if you have the hair for that style, go for it!

Cargo ShortsAdd a pair of cargo shorts -- I like these Gloria Vanderbilt Irene Cargo Shorts (Kohls, $14.99).

Paisley BlouseTomoko's top had great detail and it's what really made her look stand out. I've seen this Lauren by Ralph Lauren Priya Paisley Woven Shirt (Macys, $37.49) and it's lovely in person (and a great price now -- originally, it was $89.50!). Worn tied at the waist with a straw hat and casual shorts, it's artsy and whimsical, as opposed to fussy.

SandalA simple brown sandal completes the look. These Full Tilt Caged Sandals (Tilly's, $10.97 on sale) are a fantastic price.

What do you think of Tomoko's street style?
