I spotted this mom, Shubhra, taking a well-deserved rest at Rockefeller Center in NYC. I figured she was on vacation (not many locals flock to the Rock) and loved her laid-back comfy yet stylish look.

Honestly, her sandals and her super-cute baby, Jaya, drew me in. Plus I love jeans in the summer even though it's hot.

We started chatting and it turns out she was on vacay with her hubby and baby from Texas and is a writer with an Indian cookbook called Entice With Spice coming out. Yum!

This Lightweight Ruffled Top ($15) in Teal Over is flowy enough to keep you cool and the ruffles make it more special than your ordinary tank.

I'm always cold in A/C, so even in summer I carry a cardigan. This Cropped Pointelle Cardigan ($18) is elbow-length and lightweight. Plus, I'm a sucker for pointelle.

 

A classic staple for anyone is jeans. Try these Flirt Flared Jeans ($19) that come in dark denim. The three lengths -- short, regular, and long -- make finding the perfect fit super-easy. Bonus: The 1 percent spandex gives the jeans a little wiggle room and comfort for all that bending over you do while taking care of your baby. 

Finally, a super-comfy pair of sandals is key. I'm in love with these Metallic-Mosaic Leather Sandals ($15) in gray. They have a rubber sole great for walking and metallic silver sequins and beads on the front strap. Gorgeous!
