Makeup Palettes: Space Saver or Too Much Product?

Brianne DiSylvester

My makeup bag is overflowing ... and I don't know how it happens. I clean it out and pare down to the necessities, and still a week later it's multiplied somehow.

But I have a new solution: Palettes.

They are perfect for traveling, too. And since I usually overpack, that leaves little room for makeup. By packing palettes, you have all you need in one handy dandy case and not a million little tubes and containers. Sounds good, right?

Check out these three palettes that will last you through all your trips and free up the space in your bag for more important things ... like your phone, stuffed animals, and burp cloths.

Pucker up to Sephora's Colorful Artist Lipstick Palette ($36). There are 15 shades from nude to plum and every variation of pink in between. Use them on your pout, cheeks, or both.

Cover up blemishes, dark circles, and uneven skin tone with Make Up For Ever's 5 Camouflage Cream Palette No. 1 ($36). The green will reduce any redness caused by pesky pimples or sunburn and you can mix and match the four nude tones to match your changing summer skin. It's super-lightweight and won't irritate your complexion.

Ready for the end all, be all of palettes? The Ultimate Blockbuster ($48) from Sephora is all you'll need. I'm talking about 84 eye shadows, three blushes, 60 lip glosses, two lip liners, three eyeliners, six cream eyeliners, six eye shadows, six sparkling shadows, a double-ended shadow and liner brush, double-ended sponge-tip applicator, lip brush, powder brush, and an 18-page how-to booklet. Phew!

Are you sold on palettes? Or do you prefer individual cases?
