Last month, you guys had a lot of opinions when I asked whether there was really a difference between salon and supermarket shampoo.
Having used both, I'm inclined to say NO -- not enough of a difference, anyway, to justify the cost.
After I wrote that post, an online friend wrote and told me she works with Yes To, which makes hair and skin care products that "combine high-quality organic fruits and vegetables with a special mineral elixir derived from the Dead Sea to nourish and hydrate naturally." She asked if I'd like to try one of their shampoo and conditioner sets, which, incidentally, are very reasonably priced ($10.99 for the shampoo and conditioner set at Target).
What did I have to lose?
I've been using Yes To Carrots shampoo and conditioner for a few weeks now and ...
I like it! I really, really like it!
It's no miracle 'poo -- it just makes my hair feel really clean and soft without feeling too squeaky or coated with product.
The real test, though, was when I tried it on my daughter's long hair. Once I did that, I realized I should always review shampoos and conditioners on her hair, since I am constantly washing and drying and brushing and fixing it, and I can get a better look at the overall condition of it than I can with my own. With cheaper supermarket shampoos (like Suave), I have a harder time getting the tangles out (although we love Suave's Professionals line and my daughter loves the Almond and Shea Butter scent in particular). With Yes To Carrots, I noticed that her hair seemed silkier and the tangles came out far more easily.
And with the low price tag on Yes To Carrots, I'm about as likely to buy it for the kids now as I am for myself.
The Yes To line includes hair products for all different types of hair, as well as a skin care line, body washes, lip care, sunscreen, and baby products (we're using the Gentle Foaming Shampoo and Body Wash now [Yes To, $7.99] -- LOVE). You can buy Yes To products on the site or find them in stores across the country.
Have you tried products from the Yes To line? What do you think?
Disclosure: I received Yes To Carrots shampoo, conditioner, and body wash to facilitate my review. My opinions are my own.
