Lourdes Leon Gives Fashion Advice: Madonna Approved?

lourdes leon madonna daughterLourdes will be, like, 14 in October. So we better listen up because she knows fashion. I'm not really joking here. I mean, her mom is only Madonna. Like, the Madonna who has influenced fashion since the '80s. And you know the two of them started a clothing line, right? Material Girl. Cute stuff.

And Lourdes, who goes by Lola, is blogging about clothes, trends, and how her mother has finally allowed her to dye her hair on MaterialGirlCollection.com.
I checked out her blog to see what I, a 30-something, think about an almost 14-year-old's fashion advice.

Lola says: My favvvv color is black (just because it goes with everything) and my least favorite color is brown (because it resembles the color of something QUITE gross).

I say: I'm with her on black. Plus it looks good with everything ... except sandals. I don't love black sandals unless you are wearing them at night. I do like brown though, but not too much of it. Brown sandals are cool.

Lola says: So I want to know what you guys think about rompers … is that like a hit or miss, ‘cause I’m not sure. If you comment, be sure to tell me what you think.

I say: I like them -- on the right person. Lindsay doesn't like them. But for me, it depends -- these rompers are stylish.

Lola says: OK but no joke gladiator sandals are OUT. They came out in summer 2008 and I was like, ok those are really cute. Then 2009 comes around and people are still wearing them so I’m like, ok whatever it’s just a phase. BUT NOOOOO. Because good old 2010 is now coming along and people are STILL wearing them, and then I was just like OK NO! It’s been three years people COME ON!!!!!!!!! I’m just like what????

I say: I wouldn't wear them because there's too much going on and I don't need to draw attention to my ankles -- my least favorite body part. But some are okay.

Lola says: I am totally obsessivo about 80’s shorts … You know the kind that makes your butt look kinda big, with a grunge-looking shirt tucked in. It’s kinda nerdy but I love it.

I say: This is only something a skinny almost-14-year-old could say.

Even if I sometimes disagree, I want to read more from Madonna's offspring. Cutting-edge fashion does come from the young and even if you don't care about the next big trend, Lola sure is entertaining. I wonder if her mom has to approve of everything before she writes it?

What do you think of Lola's fashion dos and don'ts?
