What to Wear to Thanksgiving Dinner

Turkey Day (or Tofurkey Day for vegetarians) is coming up and that often means a sit-down dinner with the family. Sometimes even more stressful than making sure you get the bird and the sweet mashed potatoes right is choosing what to wear...especially considering all the gobble gobble that will be going on!

sariejack asked CafeMoms what she should wear to Thanksgiving dinner (beyond her usual track suit). I think most of us would wear sweats if we could or go with jeans and a nice top.

NovaChk said that she loves to dress up, but that her hubby's family is really casual. She usually ends up wearing a nice pair of jeans or pants and a top in a Fall color.

I'm heading to Wisconsin to my SIL's house for the first time for Thanksgiving. I think I'm going to wear a dress with short sleeves because I always get hot when I eat a lot. LOL!

Here are some ideas:

  • Dress up: Shimmy Dress from J. Crew ($250). Be careful of spilling cranberry sauce on this one, but it's one of those dresses that's a good go-to for lots of occassions.
  • Jeans and a tee: Scoopneck Tee in purple from Newport News ($24) with your favorite jeans. Comfy even if you have to open the top button after eating! Slip on a Knit Scarf ($29) for a little extra fancy.
  • Semi-dressy: Jet Bead babydoll tunic in ruby ($49.99-54.99) from OneStopPlus with black slacks or leggings. Roomy and almost like PJs.
  • Sweats only: Velour relaxed drawstring pant ($39) with bomber jacket ($45) from Victoria's Secret. They're sweats with a dash of style.
